Here is the current map of the County Commission districts. There are 6 districts in total, and 9 commissioners. Three are "at-large", representing the entire county. Terms are for 2 years with elections being held in the even years.
As you can see, District 6 is the vast, southernmost area across the bottom. It is a part of Mecklenburg County that has had a tremendous amount of growth, from the Steele Creek area, through Pineville, Ballantyne, Matthews and Mint Hill.
*The Board's major responsibilities include adopting the annual County budget, setting the County property tax rate, and assessing and establishing priorities on the many community needs, especially those related to health, education, welfare, mental health and the environment. The Board also makes appointments to citizen advisory committees.
Regular meetings are held in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 6pm and are open to the public. The meetings are video-recorded and can be viewed at MeckNC.gov.
